Walter Gray is a former Providence Journal reporter and columnist who retired from the University of Rhode Island as Assistant Provost for Marine Programs. He is a former South Kingstown Town Council President and a former State Senator representing South Kingstown and Block Island.

Gray has extensive experience as a speech writer, interviewer, proposal author and program coordinator. Upon his retirement from the State Senate in 1995, he was an adjunct professor of management at Bryant University where he taught business ethics and crisis management for several years. Walter is a graduate of Boston University.
