I did not get into the documentary film business and video production to win awards. I decided to start this business because I had spent most of my life in journalism, since high school in fact, and I found myself really enjoying the opportunity to mix writing and video into interesting stories. I did this for 17 years in television news, with several deadlines a day, but felt that long-format productions were where my future would be. I’ve found that when you are passioniate about something and enjoy it, the awards seem to find their way to you in any case.

I’ve been fortunate to win two New England Emmy Awards for documentary film writing (2007 & 2010) and have had our first two film projects themselves be nominated for six New England Emmy Awards (winning 4 Emmys total for writing and videography-Jim Karpeichik/Ocean State Video) Navy Heroes of Normandy was our latest to be nominated in 2010 for 3 Emmy Awards.

I’ve also been recognized as a top sportscaster and reporter in Florida. In the end, what makes be most happy, is not the awards, but the sense of doing something special. I’ve been lucky enough to cover many of the world’s top sporting events and interview some of the greatest athletes ever, but writing and producing two films on D-Day veterans in Normandy, France has been the highlight of my career.
